July 25th, 2010 - Along the Gulf Coast and where ever you are! (Updated HD video)
Drumming is known to provide a healing environment for people around the planet, from primitive tribes in remote locations to high-tech communities in modern urban areas, from hippies who live moment-to-moment to corporate executives who rarely take time out from work to relax, from infants not yet walking to seniors who have not had warm hands in years until drumming, and so on. Perhaps the drum beat is a wonderful gift for humanity from our Mother Earth which lives and breathes by her own beats and rhythms. In times when the Earth needs to heal, we should drum a healing beat for her, with her. That's what this event is all about. In fact, we all have been stressed, scared, and sick over the Gulf oil spill. We humans as well as the Earth need a healing drum circle without anger, blame, finger pointing, and most importantly, stress. We need a drum circle that relieves stress, one that frees the mind to focus on healing ourselves and our Mother. On July 25th, from sunrise to sunset, we encourage you to drum in groups large and small, or alone, for the soul purpose to release all the negative thoughts and feelings we have had, and to focus on healing ourselves and our planet. We invite everyone who is able to visit the Gulf of Mexico, its bays and waterways to do so with your drums and participate in a drum circle that will touch as much of the Gulf as possible. Whether you are with a hundred people drumming together in circles on beaches or a single person drumming while looking at the Gulf of Mexico from the shore, be conscious of the purpose we are drumming; to heal Mother Earth, and ourselves. If you are not in a position to make it to the Gulf Coast, please drum where ever you are. Water connects all life on Earth, so if you are able to drum by a lake or river, that would be great. If not, drum where you are. The beat will permeate the ground and throughout the day the Earth will feel the love that we have for her. The Earth will heal, and so will we. What we plan is simple, it does not require much thought. Basically, just drum with the thought of healing. Please spread the word, invite as many people as you know. As more people drum, the healing will expand. There will be opportunity to drum simultaneously as others drum, and there will times when maybe one person is drumming alone. The idea is to create a group consciousness around the globe all focusing on love and healing through the day. Carry the intent with you all day. Every time you think of the event, send a healing thought to the Earth and visualize it merging with all of the other people drumming. Those who are drumming will amplify your thoughts and together we can make a difference. Jana Broder will be facilitating a Heal the Planet Drum Circle in Gulfport, Florida during the morning on July 25th at 9:00 am at the pier in the Gulfport waterfront district.. If you would like to plan your own event, please share the information with others so everyone will have an opportunity to drum along with you from anywhere in the world. If you plan to attend a drum circle that is already happening, please share what we are doing with those who are drumming so they can participate also. One of the reasons we chose July 25th is that there are a lot of drum circles planned around the world as a part of the International Day Out of Time - Peace Through Culture Event event. A lot of people will be drumming on July 25th. Please click here to join the Drum Circle Magazine Heal the Planet Drum Circle Group and post your event place, time, and and other details you'd like to share.
